CCD News

When we baptize our children, we make a sacred promise to raise them in the Catholic faith, guiding them to grow in their relationship with Christ and His Church. A strong foundation in faith begins with catechesis, which should start at the age of six and continue at least until they receive the Sacrament of Confirmation.

Parents are encouraged to enroll their children in CCD beginning in first grade, nurturing their understanding of the faith from an early age. The standard age for receiving the Sacrament of First Holy Communion is in third grade. However, the journey does not end there. It is highly recommended that children continue their faith formation as Post-First Holy Communion students, deepening their knowledge and spiritual life until they are fully initiated into the Church through the Sacrament of Confirmation.

Let us fulfill our calling as parents and guardians by providing our children with the gift of faith—a foundation that will guide them throughout their lives and keep them close to Christ and His Church.

Cuando bautizamos a nuestros hijos, hacemos una promesa sagrada de criarlos en la fe católica, guiándolos a crecer en su relación con Cristo y Su Iglesia. Una base sólida en la fe comienza con la catequesis, que debe iniciar a la edad de seis años y continuar al menos hasta que reciban el Sacramento de la Confirmación.

Se anima a los padres a inscribir a sus hijos en la catequesis desde el primer grado, fomentando su comprensión de la fe desde una edad temprana. La edad estándar para recibir el Sacramento de la Primera Comunión es en tercer grado. Sin embargo, el camino no termina ahí. Se recomienda encarecidamente que los niños continúen su formación en la fe como estudiantes de Post-Primera Comunión, profundizando su conocimiento y vida espiritual hasta que sean plenamente iniciados en la Iglesia a través del Sacramento de la Confirmación.

Cumplamos con nuestro llamado como padres y guardianes al brindar a nuestros hijos el don de la fe, una base que los guiará a lo largo de sus vidas y los mantendrá cerca de Cristo y Su Iglesia.

NON SACRAMENTAL

The standard grade for First Holy Communion students is 3rd grade. 1st and 2nd grade CCD students are classified as non-sacramental. Students registering in 3rd grade or higher will complete their first year of First Holy Communion formation as non-sacramental before receiving the sacrament.

Students who have already received their First Holy Communion but are not yet in 8th grade will continue attending CCD as Post-First Holy Communion students, which remains non-sacramental until they reach the required age for Confirmation preparation.

NO SACRAMENTAL

La edad estándar para recibir la Primera Comunión es en tercer grado. Los estudiantes de catecismo en primer y segundo grado se consideran no sacramentales. Los estudiantes que se registren en tercer grado o mayor deberán completar su primer año de formación para la Primera Comunión como no sacramentales antes de recibir el sacramento.

Los estudiantes que ya han recibido su Primera Comunión pero aún no están en octavo grado continuarán asistiendo a catecismo como estudiantes de Post-Primera Comunión, lo cual seguirá siendo no sacramental hasta que alcancen la edad requerida para la preparación de la Confirmación.
